Bilal has as of late been accused of unlawfully fighting outside the Ministry of Justice and has gotten a network sentence. Therefore he has lost his employment and is experiencing serious misery. He feels that Juliette isn't bringing up the youngsters as he might want and needs a more prominent state in their childhood. Prompt Bilal as he wishes to apply for a Parental Responsibility Order. Answer: Bilal and Juliette have lived respectively for a long time and have two youngsters, Karim and Carla. Around a half year prior, they got isolated and Juliette moved with her new accomplice Chris. Juliette took the family name of Chris and needed her youngsters additionally to take his last name. Moreover, she needed to circumcise Karim as an impression of her religion and furthermore needed Carla to be inoculated with MMR. Bilal, anyway as an issue with this and Juliette won't tune in to Bilal. Bilal has as of late been accused of wrongfully fighting outside the Ministry of Justice and has gotten a network sentence. Thus he has lost his employment and is experiencing extreme despondency. He feels that Juliette isn't bringing up the youngsters as he might want and needs a more noteworthy state in their childhood. In light of the realities, the issue that emerges here is, regardless of whether Bilal can apply for Parental Responsibility Order and what are his odds of accomplishment of s uch an application. Parental Responsibility is a legitimate status that is gotten from the Children Act, 1989 as a major aspect of family law. Parental Responsibility is characterized in segment 3 sub area 1 of the Children Act, 1989 as, the rights, obligations and intensity of a parent as given to them by law, of a kid, corresponding to the kid and childs property (Fernando 2014). This implies it is the obligation of the parent to concentrate on their obligations that they have towards their youngster as opposed to their privileges over the kid. For the most part, the mother of the youngster is considered to have parental duty of her kid since the introduction of the kid. Be that as it may, in specific cases the dad may likewise have parental duties in the event that he is hitched to the childs mother and if his name is noted on the declaration of birth of the youngster (Mason, Laurie and Smith 2013). In the event that the dad isn't hitched to the mother of the youngster, at that point he might not hav e the power to settle on significant choices with respect to the kids. On the off chance that fathers need their childrens right, at that point he may apply for a request that is called Parental Responsibility Order. At the point when couples are hitched to one another they as of now have this duty. This implies since the introduction of their youngster they have obligations and duties towards their kids instead of rights over their kid (Lester 2015). As a dad of the youngster he has the option to be educated about the childs instruction, wellbeing and government assistance. Living arrangement request gives parental obligation to individuals who are not organic dads of the youngster, for example, step father or some other family relative of the kid. This implies beyond what one individual can acquire parental obligation of the youngster (Husain 2016). As per the Adoption and Children Act, 2002, changes were made in the manners by which the natural yet single parents can reserve the option to procure parental duty of the youngster. The dad of the kid may apply for a request for parental responsibility if his name is referenced on the endorsement of birth of the kid. Fathers who were not hitched and whose name is referenced on the birth record, before the Act was passed, will not automatically get parental risk however they should apply for a request from the Court or go into an agreement with the mother (Coles et al.2016). Also, if the guardians of the youngster are hitched when the kid is conceived or they have together received the kid then both the guardians may have parental responsibility. A single parent can acquire parental duty of the youngster in any of the accompanying three different ways, right off the bat, enrolling mutually the introduction of the kid with the mother. Furthermore, going into a concurrence with the mot her and thirdly acquiring a request from the Court for such obligation. This is material for guardians whose youngsters are conceived in England and Wales. For kids who were conceived in Scotland, the dad has parental duty in the event that he is hitched to the mother of the kid when the kid is considered (Mrazek and Kempe 2014). For kids who were conceived in Northern Ireland, the dad gets parental obligation on the off chance that he is hitched to the mother of the youngster when the kid is conceived. On the off chance that a youngster is brought into the world outside UK anyway later he comes to UK then the dad may procure parental responsibility relying upon the UK nation wherein they are living in. Accomplices, who have same sex, will secure parental duty on the off chance that they were respectful accomplices at the hour of the board of fruitlessness (Abrines-Jaume et al. 2016). For accomplices of same sex however not common accomplices, the second accomplices can secure the s ituation of parental duty by applying for parental obligation in the Court or if the accomplices went into an understanding before the kid was conceived (Tan et al. 2015). Fathers and moms of youngsters have rights and obligations as a parent; this is known as Parental Responsibility. As a parent, one must give home to the kid and keep up and secure the kid. In the event that a parent acquires parental duty of the kid he doesn't remain with, at that point the other parent needs to keep the parent refreshed about their advancement and prosperity. When the individual gets parental obligation of the youngster then he has the obligation of training the kid, giving and settling on significant choices identified with the instruction of kid and giving suitable clinical treatment to the kid (Roberts 2015). Guardians need to ensure that there youngster is bolstered monetarily and sincerely whether they have parental duty. Thus, parental obligation implies intensity of the guardians to take significant choices corresponding to the youngster. The choices might be identified with the assurance of the religion of the kid that the person in question might be raised with. In cases, where there is a blended strict or social foundation of the guardians, a contradiction may show up between them regarding the social environmental factors with whom the kid is to be raised with. In such cases, the youngster will be raised with the blended culture of both the guardians until the kid turns into a grown-up to choose his way of life himself (Barker, 2016). Notwithstanding, parental trustworthiness doesn't imply that the parent has the routine option to contact the kid or think about the whereabouts of the youngster. Reaching with the kid is the privilege of the kid and not the privilege of the individual who has obtained parental responsibility of the youngster. In the event that guardians are hitched to one another, at that point none of the guardians need to acquire assent from the other in enlisting the name as mother or father in the birth declaration of the youngster. In any case, on the off chance that guardians are not hitched to one another, at that point assent will be required as whose name will be entered as guardians in the birth record of the youngster. On the off chance that the name of the dad is gone into the birth testament it will be simpler for the dad to get parental duty of the kid. On the off chance that there is a difference between the mother and father of the kid with respect to whose name will be gone into the birth testament, at that point the dad may apply for Parental Responsibility Order from the Court (Smietana et al. 2014). Both the guardians should be available at the Register office at the hour of enlistment of the introduction of the youngster. In the event that both of the guardians neglects to go to the e nlistment of the kid then he needs to present the legal statement concurring that the person in question has no issue with the name that is being put on the birth endorsement. The announcement is formal record that ought to be marked by either by a specialist or chief of the Courts. On the off chance that the mother doesn't agree to put the name of the dad on the birth record then he may apply for Parental Responsibility Order (Zee 2015). On the off chance that none of the guardians are accessible at the Register Office for enlistment of the childs birth at that point, the occupier of the house or emergency clinic or somebody who was close at the introduction of the youngster or somebody who is responsible for the kid may turn into the enrolled parent of the kid. Parental Responsibility is non transferable, this implies the individual who has gotten parental obligation can impart his duty to some other individual be that as it may; he can't move his obligation with some other indivi dual. A parental obligation understanding is an understanding that is made between the dad and mother of the kid to permit the unmarried dad to get Parental Responsibility (Horspool and Humphreys 2012). Notwithstanding, understanding of both the guardians is required for this request. This sort of agreement is reasonable when the two guardians consent to the unmarried dad for getting parental duty. Parental Responsibility Order is a request that unmarried dads can apply for when the moms of the youngster wouldn't permit the dad from being enrolled in the birth testament. The procedure includes the dad to make a solicitation to the Court to choose whether or not they can get a request for Parental Responsibility (Baker 2015). Moms are allowed to advance the reasons concerning why she declined the dad to getting Parental obligation. For instance, if the mother has any government assistance concerns

Should lethal injection be considered cruel and unusual punishment Research Paper
Should deadly infusion be viewed as coldblooded and surprising discipline - Research Paper Example Deadly infusion is tricky in that there will undoubtedly be issues that may cause punishment of torment, torment and waiting passing. One reason for this is the technique was designed by an individual, Fred Leuchter, who had no clinical preparing, and developed the strategy by evaluating writing on the impacts that the convention had on pigs and assessed in like manner. In spite of the fact that these suggestions have been disparaged, they despite everything structure the reason for the convention in ââ¬Å"the overwhelmingly dominant part of states that utilization the demise penaltyâ⬠an advancement that caused Debra Denno, creator of the most thorough report on capital punishment conventions in the United States to state ââ¬Å"it isn't clear how or why this compound mix has persistedâ⬠(Wong, 2006, p. 269). One more of the reasons why deadly infusion might be viewed as unfeeling and surprising discipline is a result of how it is done. Deadly infusions are frequently bun gled, as there have been more than 30 instances of such messed up executions since capital punishment was reestablished by Gregg v. Georgia (Wong, 2006, p. 264). In particular, clinical work force, staff that would be prepared to do deadly infusion so that it would be sans entanglement and easy, normally wouldn't like to do the discipline. Around 19% of clinical work force do feel free to do this, yet these people are met with resistance from clinical social orders (Denno, 2002, p. 2). All things considered, they make a Hippocratical Vow that expresses that they are not to do any damage, and overseeing deadly infusion would be an immediate logical inconsistency to this fundamental pledge. Therefore,... As a result of the way that clinical staff all around can't take an interest in deadly infusion conventions, quite possibly the official who is overseeing the convention will place the intravenous line into the muscle, instead of a vein, or the needle may get obstructed. This would make the detainee experience extraordinary agony. For instance, when James Autry was executed in Texas in 1984, it took him 10 minutes to bite the dust, while he moved around and griped of agony. In addition, in light of the fact that the specialists playing out the convention are unpracticed, it is at times hard to locate a decent vein, and this is aggravated when the prisoner was an intravenous medication client. Such was the situation with Steven Morin in Texas, who was a previous heroin client, which made the professional need to stick Morinââ¬â¢s arms with needles multiple times. Critically, deadly infusion comprises of three unique methodology â⬠the first is the sedative; the second prompts loss of motion; the third causes passing. The first of these techniques that is the most significant is the directing of the sedative, for this is the thing that makes the methodology be without torment. In the event that a clinical work force isn't overseeing the sedative, at that point it makes sense that the sedative probably won't be controlled appropriately, which implies that the detainee may feel horrifying agony in biting the dust. Konarias et al. looked for convention data from Texas and Virginia, as these two states comprised 45% of all capital punishment cases completed in the United States.

Where is My Award Letter COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY - SIPA Admissions Blog
Where is My Award Letter COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY - SIPA Admissions Blog I want to provide an update regarding financial aid award letters. There are two things that have posed some challenges in generating award information this year. First, Columbia University is in the process implementing a new university wide financial aid software system. This changeover has taken a bit longer than expected and we have been working hard to get everything programed to run correctly. Second, as you might have seen in the news, the Federal government has instituted some new policies that change the way Federal student loans are administered. This change only took effect recently and we have to integrate this into our software processing. The loan programs have not changed in substance, it is just that the government will be handling 100% of the processing rather than sharing duties with private banks. Let me give a short overview of the types of aid that are available and what your package is likely to include. I will start with U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents. First, any U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident is eligible for $20,500 per academic year (two semesters) in Stafford Loan funding (assuming the applicant has not defaulted on a previous Federal loan). There are two types of Stafford Loans: subsidized and unsubsidized. The government will pay the interest on subsidized loans while students are enrolled and does not pay the interest on unsubsidized loans while you are enrolled. There is no credit check required to qualify for a Stafford loan and the exact split between subsidized and unsubsidized funding will be based on the expected family contribution (EFC) generated by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The only lender for these loans is the U.S. Federal Government. Second, U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents can apply for a federal PLUS loan. This loan is administered through the Government as well and does require a credit check. The loan amount can be up to the cost of attendance, minus all other aid received. So let us say for example that you qualify for $20,500 in Stafford loans and the total cost of attendance (education and living expenses for one academic year) is $60,000. You could apply for a PLUS loan up to $39,500 in this scenario ($60,000 minus $20,500). Third, if you do not wish to apply for PLUS loan or apply for one and are denied, you can pursue a private education loan through a bank. Many banks offer private loans for educational purposes and you can find a list of such banks here. Fourth, depending on the EFC generated by your FAFSA, you might be eligible to receive a Perkins loan. A Perkins loan is also a government based program, but it is administered by Columbia University. The benefit of a Perkins loan is that it has a lower interest rate however the maximum a student can receive at SIPA is $6,000. Also, the University only has a limited amount Perkins funding to award. Perkins loans are given to applicants with the lowest EFCs first until the money in the Perkins loan fund for the year has been depleted. Fifth, work study awards allow students to apply for jobs on campus. Like the Perkins loan, work study is awarded based on EFC and we do have a limited amount to award. First year students that receive work study can apply for jobs at SIPA and across the university. Finally, any funding that have received from SIPA or an outside organization is included in your financial aid calculation. So, if you were awarded a SIPA fellowship of $20,000, this will be included on your financial aid package and will help to determine the amount of other awards you might qualify for. In addition, if you have received funding from an outside organization you will have to provide this information to our office so that we can make sure that it gets applied to your student account and included in your financial aid package. If you are not a U.S. Citizen there are loan options, but at present we are only aware of programs through U.S. banks that require a cosigner that is typically a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. In the past we have worked with banks to provide loans that do not require a U.S. cosigner, however we do not have such an option at this point in time, mainly due to turbulence in the financial markets in recent history. International students can also apply for jobs on campus, but this process is competitive. To start researching U.S. banks that might be able to offer loans to international students, please click here. Some applicants have asked about the possibility of working at SIPA to help defer educational costs. We do provide such positions at SIPA, however they are reserved for second year students. Our new financial aid software will provide information to you in much the same way that our admission application system does. When an evaluation of your data has been completed, you will receive an email and you will be asked to log in to an online system to view the awards you are eligible to receive. We hope to start sending out notices any day now. Thank you for your patience and if you want to do some more reading on the topic, feel free to visit the financial aid portion of our Web site.

Dressing Dogs free essay sample
One day when I was walking down the Stony Point Mall when I saw a good looking lady with a dog that had styled hair, diamond encrusted collar, and a little tee-shirt. I said to the lady, ââ¬Å"Wow your dog sure looks all guzzled up.â⬠ââ¬Å"I knowâ⬠, she said ââ¬Å"Marshmallow simply loves getting dressed up!â⬠When I looked at Marshmallow, she certainly didnââ¬â¢t look happy. Some people (mainly rich or famous people) think that dressing dogs makes the dogs feel happy. But in reality, it doesnt. What people say is that they dress their dogs because they like it. But what really, what owners feel is that theyre dog is some kind of fashion accessory and no one knows (who does that) they fell that way. If your one of those kind of people, tell me: how would you feel being some fashion accessory? Dressing dogs includes actually dog clothes, fancy collars and leashes, braiding, styled and/or dying hair. We will write a custom essay sample on Dressing Dogs or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page People will also train dogs for competitions or dog shows so they will win more money. They will also do it to look fancy when on the streets or parks. But what if dogs dont want to be to look fancy for his or her owner? What if a dog wants to lick their owners to death? What if they want to play fetch or get someone to rub his belly or wet the floor with excitement. The fact is a breed dog isnââ¬â¢t better looking than a dog from a shelter. But instead everyone would prefer a dog that was bred, or, if the person isnt as rich, get a puppy with no disorders. So thanks to people who prefer cute dogs and dressing them, one more dog in the world is put to sleep. It may not sound harmful but if 10,000 decided the bred or puppy in the pound was better than a regular dog, 10,000 of those dogs die. Another fact is three-four million dogs are enthused every year. But the confusing part is that some dressed-up dogs actually seem to be enjoy being dressed. What happens is if the owner waits too long before actually dressing him or her, he or she will not accept the dressing. If though the dog is dressed at a young age he or she will accept the dressing. This is because a puppy trains himself to love and accept what the owner wants. Although a owner can use force to dress a dog if he or she is too old. So what if you fell guilty for dressing you dog now and you want your dog to love you the right way? Its simple, a dog will still love you like a dictator. All you have to do is spend real quality time with your dog. If you dont own a dog but want one, make sure to try a animal shelter and try to get a dog that needs wants to be your owner even if he has a disorder. Just because a dog is missing a leg doesnââ¬â¢t mean he wont walk up to you. Wow, Harrison. I notice that you have found a topic you are really passionate about it. I think this is going to be a great essay. I wonder, though, if your topic is really bigger than dressing dogs. I think maybe you are writing about the need to look first at unwanted dogs at the animal shelters, rather than going for a dog or puppy from a breeder. I think that the dressing and competition and being a fashion accessory (which is true of some dogs even if they are not dressed up) all comes under this big idea. What do you think? feel free to write me back.

1.) Managers Must Have Great Personal Skills So That They Can Effectiv
1.) Managers must have great personal skills so that they can effectively communicate goals of the manager to his or her workers. Managers must also be great motivators. If workers are motivated to perform at their best and want to do the best job they can, the results of their work will be better. Managers also must have an excellent and thorough understanding of the job at hand and all of its technical aspects. If managers don't have the skills needed how can he or she effectively lead their subordinates to complete the tasks. 2.) One of the best ways a manager can create a positive work environment is through positive reinforcement. If I, as a worker, completed a task that I felt I had done a great job on and spent a lot of time on I want to be recognized for that. Everyone loves recognition. The manager can have parties or functions rewarding the employees for a certain goal or quota met. The manager should be personable with his or her workers, asking them, how they are doing? How is your family? Etc. this lets the employees know that the manager cares about them more than what they do on the job. At a plant that I work at back home, that my grandpa owns, he has huge poster boards with company goals. He is a 68 year old white collar man who will put on his work clothes and work with the 25- 45 blue collar workers, right on the line, towards that goal. Throughout the day he walks around giving his personal time helping a being positive to his workers. In his business turnover is high but with this techni que the workers stay positive and are motivated to work hard. This is essential. 3.) Effective organizations have many desirable characteristics that are vital for success. Every company has different techniques that make them effective so there is no right or wrong answer. From my own experience, especially is blue collar job human resources and employee motivation is where everything begins. Employee motivation for quality saves time and money by doing the job right the first time. Also keeping the employees at the plant happy and wanting to work decreases turnover which in turn decreases training costs. Keeping costs down is another necessary factor in effective organizations. Costs are down, profits go up, it is that simple.

How to File for a Design Patent
How to File for a Design Patent Unfortunately, there are no premade or online forms available to use for the specification and drawings needed for a design patent. The rest of this tutorial will help you create and format your application. However, there are forms that must accompany your application and they are the: Design Patent Application Transmittal, Fee Transmittal, Oath or Declaration, and an Application Data Sheet.à All Patent applications follow a format derived from the patent laws and regulations. The application is a legal document. Hot TipIt will be a lot easier for you to understand the following instructions on how to apply for a design patent if you read a few issued design patents first. Please take a look at Design Patent D436,119 as an example before proceeding. This example includes the front page and three pages of drawing sheets. Writing Your Specification - Choice One - Begin with an Optional Preamble A preamble (if included) should state the name of the inventor, the title of the design, and a brief description of the nature and intended use of the invention that the design is connected to. All the information contained in the preamble will be printed on the patent if it is granted. Example: Using an Optional PreambleI, John Doe, have invented a new design for a jewelry cabinet, as set forth in the following specification. The claimed jewelry cabinet is used to store jewelry and could sit on a bureau. Writing Your Specification - Choice Two - Begin with a Single Claim You may choose not to write a detailed preamble in your design patent application, however, you must write one claim. Design Patent D436,119 uses a single claim. You will submit all bibliographic information such as the inventors name by using an application data sheet or ADS. An ADS is a common method for submitting bibliographic data about a patent application. Example: Using a Single ClaimThe ornamental design for eyeglasses, as shown and described. Writing the Single Claim All design patent application may only include a single claim. The claim defines the design which applicant wishes to patent. The claim must be written in formal terms. The ornamental design for [fill in] as shown. What you fill in should be consistent with the title of your invention, it is the object which the design has been applied to or embodied in. When there is a properly included special description of the design in the specification, or a proper showing of modified forms of the design, or other descriptive matter has been included in the specification, the words and described should be added to the claim following the term shown. The ornamental design for [fill in) as shown and described. Choosing the Title The title of the design must identify the invention that the design is connected to by its most common name used by the public. Marketing designations are improper as titles and should not be used. A title descriptive of the actual article is recommended. A good title helps the person that is examining your patent know where to/not to search for prior art and helps with the proper classification of the design patent if it is granted. It also helps the understanding of the nature and use of your invention embodying the design. Examples of Titles1: Jewelry cabinet2: Concealed jewelry cabinet3: Panel for a jewelry accessory cabinet4: Eyeglasses Specification - Include Cross References Any cross-references to related patent applications should be stated (unless already included in the application data sheet). Specification - State any Federal Research Make a statement regarding any federally sponsored research or development if any. Specification - Writing the Figure Descriptions of Drawings Views The figure descriptions of the drawings included with the application tell what each view represents. Example:FIG.1 is a perspective view of eyeglasses showing my new design;FIG.2 is a front elevational view thereof;FIG.3 is a rear elevational view thereof;FIG.4 is a side elevational view, the opposite side being a mirror image thereof;FIG.5 is a top view thereof; and,FIG.6 is a bottom view thereof. Specification - Writing any Special Descriptions (Optional) Any description of the design in the specification, other than a brief description of the drawing, is generally not necessary since, as a general rule, the drawing is the designs best description. However, while not required, a special description is not prohibited. In addition to the figure descriptions, the following types of special descriptions are permissible in the specification: A description of the appearance of portions of the claimed design which are not illustrated in the drawing disclosure (i.e., ââ¬Å"the right side elevational view is a mirror image of the left sideâ⬠).Description disclaiming portions of the article not shown, that form no part of the claimed design.A statement indicating that any broken line illustration of environmental structure in the drawing is not part of the design sought to be patented.Description denoting the nature and environmental use of the claimed design, if not included in the preamble. Specification - A Design Patent Has One Single Claim Design patent applications can have only one claim. The claim defines the design which you want to patent and you can only patent one design at a time. The description of the article in the claim should be consistent with the title of the invention. Example of a Title:Eyeglasses Example of a Claim:The ornamental design for eyeglasses, as shown and described. Making The Drawings BW Drawings or Photographs The drawing (disclosure) is the most important element of the design patent application. Every design patent application must include either a drawing or a photograph of the claimed design. As the drawing or photograph constitutes the entire visual disclosure of the claim, it is very important that the drawing or photograph must be clear and complete, that nothing about your design is left to conjecture. The design drawing or photograph must comply with the disclosure requirements of patent law 35 U.S.C. 112. This patent law requires you to fully reveal your invention. To meet the requirements, the drawings or photographs must include a sufficient number of views to constitute a complete disclosure of the appearance of the design claimed. Drawings are normally required to be in black ink on white paper. However, bw photographs are permitted subject to Rule 1.84 Standards For Drawings. The rule states that you can use a photograph if a photograph is better than an ink drawing to disclose your design. You must apply in writing for an exemption in order to use a photograph with your application. Label Photographs BW photographs submitted on double weight photographic paper must have the drawing figure number entered on the face of the photograph. Photographs mounted on Bristol board may have the figure number shown in black ink on the Bristol board, proximate the corresponding photograph. You Cannot Use Both Photographs and drawings must not both be included in the same application. The introduction of both photographs and drawings in a design patent application would result in a high probability of inconsistencies between the corresponding elements on the ink drawings as compared with the photographs. Photographs submitted in lieu of ink drawings must not disclose environmental structure but must be limited to the claimed design itself. Color Drawings or Photographs The USPTO will accept color drawings or photographs in design patent applications only after you file a petition explaining why the color is necessary. Any such petition must include an extra fee, a copy of the color drawings or photographs, and a BW photocopy that accurately depicts the subject matter shown in the color drawings or photographs. When you use color you must also include a written statement placed just before the description of the drawings that says The file of this patent contains a least one drawing executed in color. Copies of this patent with color drawings will be provided by the United States Patent and Trademark Office upon request and payment of the necessary fee. The Views The drawings or photographs should contain a sufficient number of views to completely disclose the appearance of the claimed design, for example, front, rear, right and left sides, top and bottom. While not required, it is suggested that perspective views be submitted to clearly show the appearance and shape of three-dimensional designs. If a perspective view is submitted, the surfaces shown would normally not be required to be illustrated in other views if these surfaces are clearly understood and fully disclosed in the perspective. Unneeded Views Views that are merely duplicates of other views of the design or that are merely flat and include no ornamental may be omitted from the drawing if the specification makes this explicitly clear. For example, if the left and right sides of a design are identical or a mirror image, a view should be provided of one side and a statement made in the drawing description that the other side is identical or a mirror image. If the bottom of the design is flat, a view of the bottom may be omitted if the figure descriptions include a statement that the bottom is flat and unornamented. Using a Sectional View A sectional view which more clearly brings out elements of the design is permissible, however, a sectional view presented to show functional features, or interior structure not forming part of the claimed design, is neither required nor permitted. Using Surface Shading The drawing should be provided with the right surface shading which shows clearly the character and contour of all surfaces of any three-dimensional aspects of the design. Surface shading is also necessary to distinguish between any open and solid areas of the design. Solid black surface shading is not permitted except when used to represent the color black as well as color contrast.à If the shape of the design is not fully disclosed when you file. Any additions of surface shading after the initial filing may be viewed as new matter. New matter is anything that is added to, or from, the claim, drawings or specification, that was neither shown nor suggested in the original application. The patent examiner will rule that your later additions are part of a new design rather than a missing piece of the original design. (see patent law 35 U.S.C. 132 and patent rule 37 CFR à § 1.121) Using Broken Lines A broken line is understood to be for illustrative purposes only and forms no part of the claimed invented design. The structure that is not part of the claimed design, but is considered necessary to show the environment in which the design is used, may be represented in the drawing by broken lines. This includes any portion of an article in which the design is embodied or applied to that is not considered part of the claimed design. When the claim is directed to just surface ornamentation for an article, the article in which it is embodied must be shown in broken lines. In general, when broken lines are used, they should not intrude upon or cross the solid lines of the claimed design and should not be heavier or darker than the lines used depicting the claimed design. Where a broken line showing of environmental structure must necessarily cross or intrude upon the representation of the claimed design and obscures a clear understanding of the design, such an illustration should be included as a separate figure in addition to the other figures which fully disclose the subject matter of the design. See - Broken Line Disclosure The Oath or Declaration The oath or declaration required of the applicant must comply with the requirements of patent rule 37 CFR à §1.63. Fees In addition, the filing fee, search fee, and examination fee are also required. For a small entity, (an independent inventor, a small business concern, or a non-profit organization), these fees are reduced by half. As of 2005, the basic filing fee for a design patent for a small entity is $100, the search fee is $50, and the examination fee is $65. Other fees may apply, see USPTO Fees and use the Fee Transmittal Form. The preparation of a design patent application and interacting with the USPTO requires knowledge of patent laws and rules and USPTO practices and procedures. If you dont know what you doing, consult a registered patent attorney or agent. Good Drawings Are Very Important Of primary importance in a design patent application is the drawing disclosure, which illustrates the design being claimed. Unlike a utility patent application, where the claim describes the invention in a lengthy written explanation, the claim in a design patent application protects the overall visual appearance of the design, ââ¬Å"describedâ⬠in the drawings. You can use the following resources to help you prepare your drawings for your design patent application. Drawings for all types of patents fall under the same rules as far as margins, lines, etc. Reference MaterialRules for Patent Drawing StandardsExamples of Design Patents - Disclosures, Shading and Views It is essential that you present a set of drawings (or photographs) of the highest quality which conform to the rules and drawing standards. You cannot change your patent drawings after your application has been filed. See s of Acceptable Drawings and Drawing Disclosures. You may want to hire a professional draftsperson who specializes in preparing design patent drawings. Application Paper Formats You can format your application papers (margins, type of paper, etc) the same as you would a utility patent. See - The Correct Style For Application Pages All papers which are to become part of the permanent records of the USPTO must be typewritten or produced by a mechanical (or computer) printer. The text must be in permanent black ink or its equivalent; on a single side of the paper; in portrait orientation; on white paper that is all of the same size, flexible, strong, smooth, nonshiny, durable, and without holes. The paper size must be either: 21.6 cm. by 27.9 cm. (8 1/2 by 11 inches), or21.0 cm. by 29.7 cm. (DIN size A4).There must be a left margin of at least 2.5 cm. (1 inch) and top, right, and bottom margins of at least 2.0 cm. (3/4 inch). Receiving A Filing Date When a complete design patent application, along with the appropriate filing fee, is received by the Office, it is assigned an Application Number and a Filing Date. A Filing Receipt containing this information is sent to the applicant, do not lose it. The application is then assigned to an examiner. Applications are examined in order of their filing date. After the USPTO receives your application for a design patent, they will examine it to make sure that it complies with all the laws and rules that apply to design patents. The USPTO will closely check your drawing disclosure and compare the design you have claimed to have invented with prior art. ââ¬Å"Prior artâ⬠would be any issued patents or published materials that dispute who was first to invent the design in question. If your application for a design patent passes the examination, called being ââ¬Å"allowed,â⬠instructions will be sen to you as to how to complete the process and get your design patent issued. If your application does not pass the examination, you will be sent an action or letter detailing why your application was rejected. This letter may contain suggestions by the examiner for amendments to the application. Keep this letter and do not send it back to the USPTO. Your Response To Rejection You have a limited time to reply, however, you can request in writing that the USPTO reconsiders your application. In your request, you can point out any errors you think the examiner made. However, if the examiner found prior art that disputes you being first with your design that you cannot argue with. In all cases where the examiner has said that a reply to a requirement is necessary, or where the examiner has indicated patentable subject matter, the reply must comply with the requirements set forth by the examiner, or specifically argue each requirement as to why compliance should not be required. In any communication with the Office, applicant should include the all the following applicable items: Application numberGroup art unit number (copied from filing receipt or the most recent Office action)Filing dateName of the examiner who prepared the most recent Office action.Title of invention If your reply is not received within the designated time period, the application will be considered abandoned. To ensure that a time period set for reply to a USPTO action is not missed; a ââ¬Å"Certificate of Mailingâ⬠should be attached to the reply. This ââ¬Å"Certificateâ⬠establishes that the reply is being mailed on a given date. It also establishes that the reply is timely, if it was mailed before the period for reply had expired, and if it is mailed with the United States Postal Service. A ââ¬Å"Certificate of Mailingâ⬠is not the same as ââ¬Å"Certified Mail.â⬠A suggested format for a Certificate of Mailing is as follows: ââ¬Å"I hereby certify that this correspondence is being deposited with the United States Postal Service as first class mail in an envelope addressed to: Box Design, Commissioner for Patents, Washington, D.C. 20231, on (DATE MAILED)â⬠(Name - Typed or Printed) ââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬â Signature__________________________________ Date______________________________________ If a receipt for any paper filed in the USPTO is desired, applicant should include a stamped, self-addressed postcard, which lists, on the message side applicants name and address, the application number, and filing date, the types of papers submitted with the reply (i.e., 1 sheet of drawings, 2 pages of amendments, 1 page of an oath/declaration, etc.) This postcard will be stamped with the date of receipt by the mailroom and returned to applicant. This postcard will be applicants evidence that the reply was received by the Office on that date. If applicant changes his or her mailing address after filing an application, the Office must be notified in writing of the new address. Failure to do so will result in future communications being mailed to the old address, and there is no guarantee that these communications will be forwarded to applicants new address. Applicants failure to receive, and properly reply to these Office communications will result in the application being held abandoned. Notification of ââ¬Å"Change of Addressâ⬠should be made by separate letter, and a separate notification should be filed for each application. Reconsideration Upon submission of a reply to an Office action, the application will be reconsidered and further examined in view of applicants remarks and any amendments included with the reply. The examiner will then either withdraw the rejection and allow the application or, if not persuaded by the remarks and/or amendments submitted, repeat the rejection and make it Final. Applicant may file an appeal with the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences after given a final rejection or after the claim has been rejected twice. Applicant may also file a new application prior to the abandonment of the original application, claiming benefit of the earlier filing date. This will allow continued prosecution of the claim.

Compare and contrast the OSHA noise standard and the ACGIH noise Essay
Compare and contrast the OSHA noise standard and the ACGIH noise exposure recommendations - Essay Example That is why every year they developed new research and study to protect the workers towards its environment. Recently, one of the standards that they have developed was the noise standard. OSHA releases the reasons why they believe that workers should be protected from noise. According to them, noise creates a fatal effect to people. Those who are exposed to too much noise results to common hearing impairedness, which is more often ignored because the symptoms occurred in the later stage of the illness. What is distinct about the OSHA noise standard was that it aims to protect the workers from the noise pollution. They provided guidelines on the required ââ¬Å"safeâ⬠maximum exposure of a person in a noisy environment. Also, they mentioned that workers should wear ear protective devices that fits the ear perfectly as to no sound shall go in (plain cotton is not advisable). Also, they proposed that industries should provide safety measures on controlling the noise they create especially to industries that are heavy on construction and production. On the other hand, ACGIH proposed the same principle. They also aim to secure and protect the citizens (not only the workers and employees) on controlling the noise pollution that is created everyday. Like OSHA, they also require to regulate noise and encourage the industries to take charge in protecting the ears of their employees. For instance, they require (as noise exposure limit): So technically, both organization aids the sole purpose of noise standard. The difference now lies on how each organization provides a more in-depth assistance in noise safety and health hazard towards the employers. ACGIH have the entire Part 7 for these purpose, entitled, ââ¬Å"Noise, Vibration, Radiation and Temperatureâ⬠. In this part, it enumerated a concrete provision on noise standards. It included exemption of noise control for workers, also with engineering noise control. They provided a hearing protection and warning signs

Psychosocial Effects of Adult ADHD Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Psychosocial Effects of Adult ADHD - Essay Example Oosterlaan, Logan and Sergeant referred to this condition as 'Response Inhibition' in their article, in Cambridge Journals. Earlier it was presumed that it was only a boy's disorder and never affected girls. Recent information has proved otherwise and now the actual ratio of boys: girls is 3:1. Till recently, hyperactive and impulsive behavior had always been considered as part of childhood and not exactly a problem. Also boys are given more attention, because their behavior is more aggressive and caught attention and hence, were treated accordingly. These are connected with poorer performance, less systematic behavior, loss of working memory, lack of focused attention, irritability, restlessness, inability to carry out specific instructions, and lack of concentration in any activity without being distracted. It is considered to be difficult to diagnose the inattentive kind, as behavior does not show it. According to unconfirmed data 4% to 5% of United States citizens have AD/HD related problems. It persists throughout a person's lifetime. Approximately one-half to two-thirds of children do not get completely treated and will continue have the same behavioral problems even as adults that will create tension for them on the job, within the family and in social relationships. It is supposed to be caused mainly by biological factors, said to be the 'influence in neurotransmitter activity' in the brain. Research leads us to believe that this has a definite genetic basis. Research conducted by NIMH using a positron emission tomography scanner to map out the working procedure in the brain has resulted in showing a certain unbroken connection between the ability to hold sustained attention and the activity level in the brain. In this research, the level of glucose used by various areas of brain which could be in control of impulses and quick decisions was carefully measured. Those areas in an affected person showed decreased activity, as a result of consumed lesser level of glucose. "In people with AD/HD, the brain areas that control attention used less glucose, indicating that they were less active. It appears from this research that a lower level of activity in some parts of the brain may cause inattention and other AD/HD symptoms." http://www.add.org/articles/factsheet.html Earlier diagnosis would solve the problem being carried forward into adulthood, but sometimes, this would not happen. This problem could be excessive, long term and exasperating to the person and people around him. Adult AD/HD is considered to be difficult only if it has created problems either at work place or in the social life of individual. If a certain handicap is felt in these areas, perhaps it should be treated clinically. Because the nature and severity of the problem could vary from person to person, it is not very easy to come to a conclusive diagnosis without any stray doubt. Sometimes, it is not rare to come across a family history of the problem. "Adult anxiety disorders have been shown to be familial. The familial patterns are likely due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors, Garfinkel et al

History of Rock and Roll
The History Of Rock And Roll By Seth Spence 1/22/2012 Rock and Roll music is a genre that has been around our lives since the early 1940ââ¬â¢s and has evolved every decade since. From the beginning with the rise of Elvis Pressley, to The Beatles in the 1960ââ¬â¢s, to artists of today like U2 and Metallic, rock and roll has had important aspects in every generation it has been involved in. Rock and roll was for and about adolescents. Its lyrics articulated teenage problems: school, cars, summer vacation, parents, and, most important, young love. Though rock and roll has had plenty of ups and downs with how it has adapted over the years, the influence it has had in our country and worldwide, and the controversy it has had to fight through at times. Rock music is a genre of music that came about in the late 1940s and early 1950s in the southern region of the United States. Rock music evolved from the combination of many other genres. Rock music includes elements of several black and white American music styles: black guitar-accompanied blues; black rhythm and blues, noted for saxophone solos; black and white gospel music; white country and western music; and the songs of white popular crooners and harmony groups With the migration of many African Americanââ¬â¢s to the United States in the early 1900ââ¬â¢s meant the clash and transformation of each otherââ¬â¢s music into a new style of music called Rock and Roll. As Rock and Roll came up in popularity the piano and saxophone was found to be the lead instrument, but as a few years past it was replaced by the guitar and use of the snare drum. From the beginning Rock and roll was destine to branch off into many types of rock. The first version was called ââ¬Å"Rockability. â⬠ââ¬Å"The term ââ¬Ërockabilityââ¬â¢ is a portmanteau of rock and ââ¬Ëhillbilly,ââ¬â¢ the latter a reference to the country music that contributed strongly to the styles development. â⬠(Kumar, Wikipedia) After that came a style called ââ¬Å"Doo Wop,â⬠this was popular in the 1950s. In 1955 Rock and Roll got its first national recognized album by Bill Haley and the Comets titled ââ¬Å"Rock around the clockâ⬠. In the 1960s came the British invasion of rock with bands like The Beatles, as well as pop rock and blues rock. The 70ââ¬â¢s brought along for the first time Christian rock and the start of the heavy metal rock like punk and metal. ââ¬Å"Turning point in rock music occurred in the mid-1970s in the form of punk rock, which was a response to the stagnation of the genre and a nihilistic political statement. The music was filled with contempt for previous styles; its fast-tempoed songs, usually propelled by electric guitar, featured irreverant lyrics often obscured by the clangerous musicâ⬠. ( Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, University library) As the 90s and 2000s approached these genres of punk and metal brought new evolution of each with the introduction of post hardcore-emo to indie rock. ââ¬Å"Also in the 90s the continuing popularity of older bands, such as the Grateful Dead and the Rolling Stones, bore witness to the enduring appeal of this form among both the young and the increasingly middle-aged. The appeal of older and past rock bands was also evident in the fanfare surrounding the opening (1995) of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. â⬠(Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, University Library) Rock is always evolving into a new style of music so more and more styles of rock will emerge. With the rise of rock in the United States has brought the influence of rock into political views. Political expression in music has been seen all over the world though it has never been fully proven if audience relates their music to a political level. Music has had a big influence in protests, like antiââ¬â¢ war songs, and in pro-establishment ideas like national anthems, patriotic songs, and political campaigns. Many bands have been known to use some of their music to express political views such as U2s ââ¬Å"Sunday Bloody Sunday,â⬠which is a major anti-terrorism song, or the song ââ¬Å"Pride,â⬠which has become an international anthem for peace. ââ¬Å"Rock has been credited with changing attitudes towards race by opening up African American culture to white audience the global spread of rock music has been interpreted as a form of cultural imperialism. (Kumar, Wikipedia) Rock and Roll came about when racial tensions were changing with the beginning of civil rights movements for desegregation. There are many people who say that rock and roll had a huge had in segregation by creating a new form of music that encourages racial cooperation and shared experiences. Not only has rock and roll had an influence in the Un ited States but has also had an influence on countries around the world. Rock and roll in the early 1960s had finally spread over seas and Great Britain was the first to jump into the rock scene with the quick uprising of The Beatles. It soon spread to Liverpool with The Searchers, and The Hollies from Manchester and of course The Rolling Stones from London. All these groups began combining US forms of music and infusing it with a high energy beat of their own. ââ¬Å"An important transformation of rock occurred in 1965 at the Newport Folk Festival when Bob Dylan, noted as a composer and writer of poetic folk songs and songs of social protest like ââ¬Å"Blowin' in the Wind,â⬠appeared, playing electric guitar and backed by an electrified rock band. A synthesis of the folk revival and rock subsequently took place, with folk groups using rock arrangements and rock singers composing poetic lyrics for their songsâ⬠( Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, university library). At the same time The Beatles were hitting the scene, rock and roll had migrated all the way to Japan. Many Japanese bands imitated The Beatles and other bands which in Japan were known as ââ¬Å"Group Sound,â⬠which was very popular in the 1960s. After the boom of Group Sounds there were several influential singer-song writers like Nobuyasu Okabayash and Wotaru Takadaâ⬠(Kumar, Wikipedia) The 80s brought the inspiration to try alternative rock music which lead to many bands in the 1990s to achieve a great amount of commercial success. As with bands in the United States many of these bands especially in Europe like The Rolling Stones and The Beatles used songs to express their political views and encourage change in the world. As with many other genres, rock and roll was no different when it came to its musicians being controversial whether it be with drugs or subliminal messaging. Many rock musicians were known as hard living characters with their heavy use of drugs and alcohol. With rocks popularity and open promotion of recreational drug use made its youth believe it was acceptable to do. These hard core drug user claimed many talented musicians such as Elvis Pressley, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison. Along with drug use a sense of rebellion spread across the countries youth with its fast past beats and crazy lyrics, making our youth rebel against anything lawful. Rock and roll has also had to deal with the accusation of using subliminal messaging which is also known as ââ¬Å"back masking. ââ¬Å"During the 1970s, media reports raised a series of concerns of its impact on listeners, stating that satanic messages were calling its listeners to commit suicide, murder, abuse drugs, and engage in sex. â⬠(Kumar, Wikipedia) The biggest known trial of subliminal messaging as against Judas Priest, as two young men in December of 1985 committed sui cide while drinking, smoking marijuana, and listening to Judas Priest all day. The song ââ¬Å"Better by you, better than me,â⬠was the plaintiffââ¬â¢s main focus for subliminal messaging. Unfortunately they could never fully prove that is sent a message to commit suicide and kept it where rock and roll artist could continue to be creative in writing their music. From the birth to rock and roll in the United States to its spread to other countries around the world rock and roll will forever be a part of our lives and have some kind of influence on us. Rock and roll also got to feel the other side of the hill with all the negative vibes that come with its type of music and something that makes people more connected to a genre when it goes through a period of adversity. Rock and roll music is only getting stronger and ever evolving and will always have a place in our hearts. Social Medi The Truth - 832 Words
Social Media -- The Truth Social Media is a hotly debated topic in modern times. On one side, people say that it can help spread information quickly, or help catch criminals, but on the other, people often claim that they can be dangerous and that they lack privacy. The truth of the matter is, Social Networks should be banned, especially for children. Social Media destroys the basic human ability to interact with others. This is supported by the quote, ââ¬Å"Communication is constantly evolving. Some people are as used to seeing their friendsââ¬â¢ online avatar as they are their face,â⬠said Yazino founder Hussein Chahine in The Telegraph. This shows how addicted people have become to Social Networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. This isâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Future generations, this one included, will only spend more and more time on sites like these. Some people would say that Social Media helps catch and prosecute criminals, but the few times in which this does happen is heavily outweighed by the amount of privacy of which they lack, and the fact that they often expose users to government and corporate intrusions. A 2012 survey found that 13 million Facebook users said that they had not set or known about the siteââ¬â¢s privacy settings, and another 28% shared all, or nearly all, of their posts publicly. Facebook is infamous for its lack of security, how it forces users to stay on and use their site and secretly tracks them. They often make privacy settings hard to find. Most, if not all, of their users would rather keep their info private, but Facebook and other Social Networking sites often make that a hard thing to do. Another report declared that the US Justice Department intercepted 1,661 pieces of information from social networking sites and emails in 2011. With many social media sites being money-focused, they often se ll their userââ¬â¢s information to shady organizations. These sites expose their users too much and too often. This is further supported by the fact that the 2009 IRS training manual teaches agents to scan Facebook pages for information that might assist in resolving a taxpayer case. Organizations such as this one now even promote social media ââ¬Ëstalkingââ¬â¢. It s immensely difficult to stay and feel safe on
